The Larry Ahern Campaign has announced the endorsement of Associated Builders and Contractors, the leading trade association in both Florida and the United States for commercial builders and contractors.
ABC is dedicated to free market principles and the merit shop contracting philosophy of open and honest competition, said Steve Cona, president and CEO of the ABC Gulf Coast Chapter.
“We believe (Ahern) best exemplifies an understanding of free enterprise, limited government and responsible regulations,” Cohen wrote in an endorsement letter to Ahern.
“I am honored to have ABC behind our campaign,” Ahern said. “I appreciate the organization’s support and look forward to working with ABC as a valuable resource for information on issues pertaining to the commercial construction industry.”
ABC’s endorsement is yet another in a show of support for Ahern in recent weeks. The National Federation of Independent Businesses, the Florida Medical Association, the Florida Chamber of Commerce, the Clearwater Regional Chamber of Commerce, the Associated Industries of Florida, and the Florida Farm Bureau have endorsed Ahern for the House District 66 seat in the Florida Legislature.
The Florida Gulf Coast Chapter is comprised of more than 400 member companies with an elected board of directors and a multitude of committees supported by a professional staff. The board is made up of a cross section of the membership, which includes general contractors, subcontractors, material suppliers and professional associates. Based in Tampa, the Gulf Coast chapter was chartered in 1969, spanning the west coast of Florida, from Gainesville south to Naples. Statewide, membership in ABC’s five chapters totals over 2,500.
